I was so afraid of getting my hopes up again, because any mother knows how much each attempt takes out of you. I started without expecting anything to change quickly.
After a while, I noticed my son was making different sounds, trying to repeat some of the things I said. At first I thought it might be a coincidence, but he kept trying.
The day I heard a new word come out of his mouth, I just cried. To some people it might seem like a small thing, but to me it was enormous. It felt like realizing he was trying to find a way to reach me.
We're still on this road, and I know every child has their own timing, but today I feel so much more hopeful.
